Ashley Smith is an actor based in Washington, DC. He has played principal roles on the New York stage, in regional theater, and in television and film. He is currently filming his fourth season of AMC's 'TURN: Washington's Spies', in which he plays the recurring role of Captain Wakefield. Other television credits include guest-starring roles on HBO's 'VEEP,' Comedy Central's 'The Daily Show with Trevor Noah,' the new Netflix drama 'Mindhunter' and the PBS documentary 'Whistler: The Case for Beauty.' Theatre credits include principal roles off-Broadway (Jean Cocteau Repertory, Hudson Guild Theatre, American Actors Theatre), and in regional theatres across the country (Shakespeare Theatre Company, Utah Shakespeare Festival, Great Lakes Theatre Festival, Olney Theatre Center, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, and Dallas Theater Center).
Ashley is also an internationally recognized watercolor painter. He recently exhibited his work at Watercolor West, Louisiana Watercolor Society, Gallery Underground, Maryland Federation of Art, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, Rocky Mountain Watercolor Society, Kansas Watercolor Society (Patron Purchase Award and Honorable Mention Cash Award), and the Pacific Art League.
Ashley holds union memberships in the Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) and Actors' Equity Association (AEA). He is certified in Roy Hart Voice Work, and received an M.F.A. in Acting from the University of Delaware's Professional Theatre Training Program.
